I'm in southeastern Michigan and was wondering the same thing about the snow and the intake. Yesterday we were supposed to get 7 inches of snow. Luckilly, it was just a dusting.

alright, CAI's can be tricky in areas with LOTS of rain and snow....here is what i would suggest, of course don't drive in inches of water or anything, you'll just suck water into your intake then your engine fails, and that's not fun....but I would suggest buying a couple extras for your CAI...1) you can buy filter guards at like ADvanced auto parts, or pep boys or something, it's just a piece of sheet metal that fits like a sleeve around your filter abot 3 or 4 inches out, it would help keep water splashing and mud onto your filter, then 2) i'd also buy a Bypass valve, they're all universal, can get 'em on ebay for like 50$, again they're universal so they'll fit all 3inch CAI's, it's just a piece that you place between 2 pieces of your CAI, and a film or sheet of what looks like paper towel or something catches water and debris that your CAI might suck in, A VERY BENEFICIAL part, believe me...hit me back with any questions, my comp is stupid, so just email me if you don't care at nickmays04@yahoo.com piece guys!

I've seen that the Bomz CAI isn't that great, but I don't have the money to spend on a Volant or anything, but I was wondering what the problem is with it? Is it that it sucks up water, or what? Let me know if it's worth the money or not. I won't be able to afford a better one ever I don't think, so it's not like saving will help
!! Also, does this use the stock airbox, b/c mine is broken! Thanks for the advice guys! -Ben |

hey jibber,
all cai's are BASICALLY the same thing...the only differences are usually diameter sizes and colors and coatings on the actual piping itself...bomz cai's are just plain aluminum, but they do make good cai's.....i do have a small problem sucking water up into my intake, but that will be taken care of with a "bypass valve", you can get them anywhere, ebay usually has them 35-50$ depending on what brand you get, i wouldn't recommend a cai without one....if ya got anymore questions feel free to ask man!! |

Does anybody have links for the 2.3L CAI, I am having hard time finding some. Also, what does cold air intakes do to the sound of the engine, if you could explain in words?

With all this talk of using CAI with their potential hydrolock problems, i'm glad i went Custom Short-ram, particularly seeing how I live in alaska. All I really have to do is take out the seal at the top rear of the hood and either buy a hood with functional scoop or buy a scoop and cut a hole so i can get the air circulating, hot out and cold in...ya know, the good stuff.

okay, you just have to be careful in how you take out your stock airbox assembly...ya know, you may not want to completely damage it when taking it out, then have to reinstall it later and have serious problems....imo, its just a 'plug n play' thing swapping out the new for the old....just be careful, make sure all joints and seals are firm, and you shouldn't have any problems bro...if you have any difficulty hit me back and we'll see what we can do
