SVTF Transmission noise

My 03 SVTF ZX3 has had a noise from the transmission since I took delivery in June. At first I thought it was the TO bearing, since it makes the same rattling noise. But, I have since learned it is the gearbox making the racket. This noise is best described as sounding like marbles shaking in a tin can, and makes the noise when in neutral with the cluth dis-engaged.

I did not like the answer I got from the service manager at my selling dealer. He wanted to re-build the transmission. No way Jose', says I. I called SVT and spoke with Mark, he said this unit is a "plug and play" gear box, and is not to be re-built. He also stated their have been a few calls with this same concern. He also said that any one with the same transmission noise should call SVT so they can document it.

So, the dealer has since ordered a new gear box, which is on national back order, by the way (hmm I wonder why). I am not looking forward to having this done, but I guess I have no choice.

I also asked the dealer to re-flash the ECM with the newest update, to take care of a surging problem, which has been covered here on FF many times. Well, it seems the dealer did not have the latest update, and my car sat there all day for nothing.

So, please call SVT with those transmission concerns.

The tranny is a Getrag, who make some of the best 'boxes in the world.....so it is Ford's POS parts that are f'ing things up, like their stupid dual-mass FW and solid clutch disc. May I also mention that the same exact 6spd Getrag is in the Cooper S.....and I hear that the shift feel is better(same tranny but different shifter assemblies, Ford vs. BMW), and I here nothing about rattling TO bearings and 'boxes in the Mini's.....
