The funny(or not so) thing is that people buy new motors and put there old intake manifold back on without cleaning the intake manifold and egr and the broken valve seat (hiding in the manifold) destroys your new motor too!!!! Luckily, I found the broken valve seat in my intake manifold when I cleaned mine out. Whew!!!

Yes..You can see the number four cylinder is the one that dropped the valve seat then it made its way to number 3 then 2 by way of the intake manifold. The exhaust valves just arent big enough to let it escape. Moral of the story is if you hear rattling in your engine pull the head and get the valve seat out of there BEFORE it destroys your shortblock.

89,000 miles. The previous owner didn't take very good care of it. I'm sure it probably overheated then the valve seat dropped. It has a much more responsible owner now.

I don't know for sure because when I got the car it had already thrown the rod. I imagine it would be pretty difficult to hear unless you were really listening for it.

i dont know if it had anything to do with it but mine would shake like crazzy at idle sometimes when i started it then come out of it once i reved it a little ..it did this about 4 weeks but i just thought it was a bad sensor or somthing
