Hey Fellow Fanatics,
I read a bunch threads about downshifting however no one ever mentions shifting into 1st gear. I notice when i drive pulling out of turns in 2nd is slow. Im at 20-25kph exiting city street corners and thats a 1000rpm in 2nd. Is it bad to downshift into first to get more power. I've been told by people that its bad for my motor mounts but our SVTF's have tall 1st and 2nd gear compared to other cars. Does this make it ok? Will the tranny take it harmlessly or no? I also rev-match all my shifts. Sometimes they are a lill sloppy but not too bad... thx, RYe |

I am wondering the same question.
Sometimes when my engine goes really really low rpm (500 or 450) i get this knocking sound. Does that mean my engine mounts aren't tightened all the way? |

ya don't downshift into first.. there is no need to.. it's too low of a gear. that's why when you do try to it won't let you get in gear.

in your svt you should just take turns a lil faster and 2nd won't be so bad :)

Downshifting into first at a higher speed wil kill your car. It's too hard on your engine. I bet you could break a mount doing it.
