Thats what im hoping for. Going to really try to make it out there but i might be in my commercial pilot training by then or even airline transport so who knows... Career comes first.

well i got around to putting the seafoam in the oil and the lifters are still making noises. I did an oil change last night to 5w30 so its a bit thicker. Oil wasnt dirty at all so the engine is clean as a whistle. We'll see how the lifters do now with the new synthetic oil. Doubt they will change... Ill take off the valve cover and take some measurements next weekend or something when i have time.

our cars don't have lifters. that is why the are Overhead cam they make contact with the vales and push themn down, there are little covers over the springs but no lifters.

It may be your timing chain making the noise.

Guess im a bit confused. AllData gives me part numbers (1S7Z6500AA) for lifters but now that i look for the diagram it shows exactly what you're talking about... tappet, collet, spring retainer, spring, and seal. So taking off the valve cover would do no good besides getting a good look at the cam.

Took a peep at the cam under the oil cap and looked at the full 360* of it and it looks fine. Wear marks but thats expected on 81k miles... Guess i might take my car over to Ford and see what they think. Its coming from the front side of the engine near the intake manifold.

I just found this on wiki... lol nice

"The plastic intake manifold on early versions of the 1.8 and 2.0 has a major fault due to poor quality materials. The manifold has swirlplates mounted on a square shaft at the aperture where it mounts to the cylinder head. Early 4 cylinder Duratec engines can be ruined when the swirlplates break off and enter a cylinder. Most cases are of single swirlplates but also the shaft can wear and break. Early signs of this fault are evidenced by a ticking noise emanating from the front of the engine. This can occur as early as 25K miles, with failure typically occurring after about 90K miles."

sounds about right. Guess ill be going down to ford. except i dont have a 1.8/2.0...
