Another EGR Delete

I searched and read about 10 different threads and none of them came to a straight answer. I was just wondering if I should delete the whole EGR system. I know there is no performance gain, but It would clean up the engine bay and the inside of the engine. I know it would throw a code, but my CEL is already out and I don't mind it. Will the engine run like crap? What do you guys think.
I mean if it won't hurt anything other than gas milage and the CEL, why not.

it's gotta be there for a reason, so if you remove it, something may happen. I would HOPE ford wouldn't put a totally useless part on the car!!

I am not running an egr. It's an emissions thing. If the regular zetecs had variable exhaust timing like the SVT's, we would also not have an egr. I have deleted mine and have had no problems. I do however plan and putting it back with my svt header on. This will prevent any smog test issues in the future. If you have a hook up for smog then there is no need to put it back on.

ya, but the change holder has a purpose, to hold change!! I was referring to something more like the idea of vestigial parts of a car.

I haven't had EGR since Mid '01 (Got my car in Feb if that tells you anything). Not a single typical "surging" or perpetual idle problem.
My vote goes for dump it if you can.

Well I'm replacing my intake manifold, so now would be the time to get rid of it. I know what it does and what it's there for, by reading all the threads on it, I'm almost an expert. I just didn't know if I could take it all out w/o getting the tune. The guys that don't have the egr, did you take everything out and just run with it or did you guys get tunes.

I don't have emissions testing. For the record.

Just so you know, the svt header doesn't have an egr output. You'd have to fab one up, unless you knew that.
