paint before or after changing tires?

I am planning to paint my rims, and also to replace my tires. Which should I do first? On the one hand, if during the painting I affect the balancing, that would be taken care of when replacing the tires. On the other hand, in the tire change/balance they could affect the paint... Any suggestions?

Whoa! sorry I missed your post. Painting your wheels should not throw the balance of the wheels off, though you will need to have and hammered on tradition weights removed before painting. Any decent tire shop should be able to mount your tires without scratching the paint.

Great write-up, down to the etching primer and light coats of paint.

thanks for the comments guys, glad if my post here can help anyone.
As far as the "bad guy" title, there's a little behind that.
Gonzorelic, if you need any help with painting gloss black, let me know.

benc323, I didn't use any clear coat because I wanted to retain the satin finish of the paint, not quite flat but no where near as shiny as clear coat. Allegedly Duplicolor is going to come out with a satin clear coat, if they do I'm going to re-spray them with more satin black then lay on the clear coat nice and heavy....one thin coat at a time, that is.
