I think the rev limiter kicks in on a stock SPI at 5800 rpm's . Mine with a cam and a chip kicks in at 7200.

the redline is that part on your tach with a number like 6 or 7 with a red line under it

Now I know the connections on the guages are the same but will I have to do some rigging to get the tach to work if I try to install SVT guages or will it go right in?

nothing except for the fact the focus rpm guage stops at 7000 so that should give you a hint right there, and I wanted to know if it was possible b/c I dont want some huge round tach sitting on top of my dash.

I am pretty sure the SPI redlines at 5800 stock. This doesn't sound unreasonable when you look at a stock Zetec's redline of 6750. The redline is not the red mark on a tach, but the point in which the PCU tells the ECU that it has reached the preprogrammed engine speed, so kill the injectors until it slows. This of course can be changed, but it is suicide to raise the redline on a Focus just for kicks. Stronger internals would be wise first. I am not 100% sure if the cluster swap from an SVT would be as simple as a ZX3 swap. I did that one (FINALLY) and the only concern there is the odometer reading being that of the vehicle the new cluster came from. Unless you are driving an SVT, I see no reason why you would want the cluster. You could do the ZX3 swap and get a MUCH better looking whiteface plate from any number of places. And you would loose the little pocket above the ashtray too! I think that thing is invaluable.

The zetec has held up very well to high rpm running. And that means stock block zetec. FCs stock block has hit 9k I believe and they still run it...its fast..lol. There was a focus in LA that ACCIDENTALLY touched an estimated 11.2k rpms before it let go.

There is no reason to do this in a stock spi. The SPI starts to lose power after 5300rpms so it would only hurt you in the long run.
