Hi all.

Just took delivery of a 2012 Focus Ti. (It's the wife's grocery getter) So not a speed demon by any means. (I wanted to wait for the ST, but we needed a new car sooner rather than later and already had a Turbo'd toy)

So anyway, good to see there is an active community. I'm sure I'll be popping in with questions.

Thanks!

I drive a 2008 Saturn Sky Redline. My wife drives the Focus (except when we trade cars or are together and need storage room) The trunk / storage on my Sky could fit maybe a subway sandwhich and that's about it. It's slightly modded (nothing crazy) Cold Air Intake for sound purposes only..it doesn't do anything for performance and then I got the GM Performance Tune which pushes it up to 290 Horsepower and 340 Torque. I'm ~ 5.3 seconds 0 - 60 so it's pretty quick...not fast by any means...but I call it quick.

But so far I have been pretty happy with the Focus...no major transmission issues that people have been complaining about. Granted, I knew it was a dual clutch going in so I knew what to expect.

I"ve never autocrossed mine. I've always wanted to, but I'll be the first to admit that I don't have a lot of experience 'performance driving' Heck, I barely knew how to drive stick when I bought it :) I just couldn't buy it without the man peddle on the far left.

Not to mention, I've never known where / how / what / etc. when the autocrosses go on. But something I"d like to try some day for sure.

Those miatas are nimble little buggers though. Gotta respect a car that was BUILT to be a drivers car. No frills, just all the right pieces in all the right places.

Honestly, autocross doesn't take much experience other than having your drivers license. We have new driver coordinators that will help you during the event. Hell, i'd even show you the ropes. If i ever have an open seat, i don't mind having co-drivers.
check out our regions forum for more details- http://forums.utahscca.com/

Yeah, the Miata is an outstanding car for auto racing (road courses/autocross) they are cheap as crap and they are almost bulletproof. I can't tell you how many cars i have beat that cost literally 10x as much or more than my car. i love it.

So when I do get my car eventually put together since I have a rebuilt bottom end with rods, pistons, and oil pump, along with full head work cams, intake, and SVT exhaust... even while staying NA (before going Turbo) I would be in street modified right?

yeah I think so. I know I'm in street mod just because of the bigger turbo.
