For those in Utah who have Turbo Charged there Foci... what have you done with the EGR? Does going with a turbo remove the need of EGR??

Thanks!

its a long story mark...

that's probably what's been done... I would personally retain all emissions equipment except for the cat and have it tuned.
only problem is probably none of the manifold have a spot for the egr.

Looking at having my Foci be a daily driver so needs to pass emissions / inspections... so need CAT, O2's, etc right? that includes having a functional EGR?

the 02 monitor can be tricked... I ran a high flow cat on the focus just to be nice (smelled terrible) but I believe with both that and egr Tom can disable them. not sure if they will pass... they should, we just look at the readiness monitors. you can only have one incomplete test to pass.

egr will need to be tuned out but that's no issue.

no.

the egr looks like... well I dunno on that one but follow the tube going from the side of your exhaust manifold (I guess its a header on the svt lol) it will go to a little device bolted to the intake manifold.

you'll have to check out Pauls egr delete thread because we explain it a whole lot better there.

The EGR is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system. takes exhaust gas and then through an EGR valve controls the amount of exhaust that is "dumped" into the intake.

Once going FI with a Turbo I am not sure how that will work as well. would I tie into the exhaust still before the turbo run through the valve and dump on the intake manifold still? or due to the pressure differences I will need to route it after the turbo?

I have already had problems with my EGR and getting it to pass emissions with a Tune (long story that pisses me off when re telling) so my vin number I believe has been flagged.

the EGR I don't think it does crap for emissions and the SVT does not even have it so IMHO its a piece of antiquated technology that is useless.

But none the less is needed in Utah (at least salt lake county, could go up to Logan to register it...)

So wanted to know those in Utah that have gone Turbo if they have had emission problems or how they deal with emissions...
