That would be pretty sweet if we had a local saleen owner who was willing to participate.

I saw a saleen focus with a caved in fender and tire and all that. not a pretty sight...

anyway, me..... I'm not going to the Ford competition. OUR SCHOOL isn't going to the competition. Because of the test...... for that btw, I'm just gonna quote what I said on the other thread cause I gotta go eat.....

Quote:
Today hasn't been a very good day

I'm not sad or anything, but rather peeved at how it went.

24 schools (out of like 250) go to the hands on contest. One WTF moment happened when about 14 of the schools that made it were from not UT but Nevada, Wyoming, and Idaho!!! I thought it was a UTAH COMPETION.

anyway, the test itself could just go crawl in a ditch and die (and the writer of it especially)

I got my score, as the other 6 of us. about the same scores too btw.

20 CORRECT out of 50. what the hell, right? well the gist of the test questions basically consisted of what seemed to be geared towards Toyota, Hybrids, A LOT of ECM/PCM stuff (literally about 25 of the questions), and customer service questions.

HOW THE AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW EVERY MINUSCULE FUNCTION OF THE G ECM??? Nobody does.....

for example:

"What is the result of incorrectly mounting the lateral accelerometer?"
My answer (multiple choice): Nothing will happen
Answer: The check engine light will come on.

I asked my boss that one and he didn't have a damn clue what that thing was.

OH OH another one, about hybrids....

"If the service of brakes on a hybrid is done incorrectly, what could occur?"
My answer: Damage to the sensors on the brake pads
Answer: don't freakin know.

another one about customer service (missed 3 of 5 CS questions. WHY? I suppose my "honest" answers weren't in the best interest of making "fast money" instead of "stable money" as I put it)

If a customer is in for a regularly scheduled maintenance and inquires about an air-freshener, what should you do? (WTF?????? WHO CARES???)
My answer: Offer to walk with the customer and show them the assortment of air-fresheners
Possible answer: Note it on repair order

SEE what I mean? it's ridiculous. I'll post more if I think of them.

What also makes me mad is that we didn't even know when this test was until two weeks ago. really helpful. ALSO other schools just happened to have ALL of the answers of the previous 5 years worth of tests, all jumbled up, and practiced them for a while. MANY of the answers were the same on this test!

The students knew the answers because they've studied them for so long! Get them in the damn hands-on competition and they won't know how to lift a damn wrench I bet.

We'd kick their asses if it were Hands-on only.

Oh well, like I said, one less thing to worry about. ers.

That blows mike. I remember back in high school when I was in auto shop. I was going to do the competition cause I had a pretty decent score on the test. Did well on the hands-on stuff too. Just had some other things come up that prevented me from being able to go to the competition.

From what I can remember it was only Utah schools. But I could be wrong. That was back in the '04-'05 school year. My sophmore year. I didn't continue the program. Wish I would've though.
