Key fobs/Flip Key

Hi,

I drive a focus 2006 Mk2 european model with a key fob which has 3 buttons on it. I'm after a flip key which I intend to get cut. I'm assuming the remote buttons on the flip key will work just like my original key fob buttons once programmed.

Anyone know what the PATS chip look like and is it removable from the original key fob to the new flip key which I'm going to buy?..

Heres what I've tested with my original key fob. I've removed the key blade from the remote buttons half of key fob and tried to start the car. IT DOESNT START! Once I put the key fob half near the key ignition, I can then start the car as normal. i'm assuming the PATS chip is somewhere on the key fob. Can the PATS chip device be remade? or replicated? Or is all PATS chip the same for every FORD key fob????????

i hope not to go to the dealer as they will charge over $200 for a flip key and programmed.

Thanks

Found the info! Provided you have two original keys, you can add new keys and have the new pats chip coded as per below:

If you only have 1 known key to the vehicle this has to be done by a Ford dealer using IDS. if you have 2 known keys then you can do it yourself, buy putting the first key in the ignition and turning from off to on and back to off and remove the key, do the same for the second known key, and then again for the non prog 3rd key,(no more then 10 secs betwween removing the keys) leave for a few seconds then all 3 keys will start. You then need to prog the central locking by putting the fobbed key in and turning from off to on 4 times and you will hear a chime, remove the key and press anyone of the buttons on the fob and it will chime again. re-insert the keys and turn off to on and this is all done.
