dyn2liv built and published this partly due to my post regarding the Sun Hyper Voltage GT I purchased and installed on my 08'. I did some very simple and rudimentary measurements with my voltmeter and do know that the Hyper Voltage GT does fill in for those momentary sages in voltage when there's a surge on the car's electrical system.

I certainly won't try to claim my Hyper Voltage increased my MPG, performance or anything else. It just seems to me that anything we can do to increase efficiency in the electrical system shouldn't be a bad thing on todays computers with wheels attached.

Just my opinion, no electrical engineering degree or anything to back it up

^^X2!

I definitely agree with Brad, even though I don't have a degree either, I did study analog, digital, and computer electronics and I could probably do a study on it and write a technical conclusion as to why it works, but I do not have that kind of time. IMO this is a good write up from some one that appears to not be an electronic engineer, but does understand the fundamentals of electronics and how they work. Though I would probably never do this with my car (I would probably buy something already on the market), this is great information for some one that maybe trying to do the same thing - but having problems with circuitry. Once again Dyn, good job!!

Tryied to give you a rep, but it did not show up.

How did you come up with this little project?

Yeah, it seems like it'd be a fun project.

OP: Do you have a total cost for all parts by any chance?

Nice write up!

It will certainly work on your breadboard and soldering skills. But as pointed out before, the battery is a much bigger charge buffer than chaining (in parallel) a bunch of large home capacitors. The amount of current that this device aims to clean would relatively easily overwhelm its capacitance.

I wholeheartedly endorse McNew's for installing and tuning your Focus.

Yeah, I'll be putting this together as soon as possible (I love to tinker). I'll do the same simple tests I did with my voltmeter when I installed my Sun Hyper Voltage GT. The hyper voltage, like this project, are just designed to store energy and release it the instant there is momentary demand on the electrical system. The battery or alternator are not designed for that kind of response time. I'll let you know what results I see when I get this done.

Others were noting how much a pre-built cost. So I built one. It was not that I needed it, just a how-to for those of us who like to tinker.

Nice write up!

I spent around 70.00 by the receipts, but alot of the stuff I bought was not needed to build this. All told I spent about 45.00 on the parts just for this build. My time to build was about 3 hours, spaced out over 2-3 days.
