The trim package does not change the car, like Phokus said.

I think this has been discussed in this thread and the answer is yes for both 08s and 09s.

The trim packages add luxuries to the car. Without the packages, an SES is the same car as the S or SE. If a steering wheel fits an SES, it will fit the SE or S models.

I am striking out here in Canada, all dealers don't think it will work. Keep telling me to talk to parts department about an aftermarket kit (which there is none, at least Ford genuine kit). if anyone in the GTA had this done, let me know!

Dealer just installed my cruise...$311 out the door..new steering wheel with the switches. My local ford dealer said he had never heard of adding cruise ..Call another dealer in the next town and he can do..Cost including new wheel just over $300..So don,t give up..

So as far as things go with this addition, I've got my 08 S Focus that's bone stock. It appears that the wiring is there for the alarm, just missing the main box that the wires plug in to. Does anyone know if the door actuators are already there on this model? It seems like everything for the SE/SES/SEL was included in the S just dropped of one or two little things to make it not function. If we can get our hands on a reprogramming module can we just program everything to work? Anyone have any hands on experience as to whether or not this is possible, or whether or not the modulators are there? Ford said something ridiculous for the price to install a kit.

I think, and I'm no mechanic, but from what I've been told by my local Ford shop, you can add cruise, but you have to buy the wheel and have it installed first, then re-program the car's computer (getting a dealer to do this may be difficult because some won't want to). I think that as long as you have an automatic trans, this should work, no matter if you have an S or SE (or SES). However, you may have to replace the clockspring on the S model, but I am not sure because I don't have an S model. I know for the SE/SES, you don't have to replace the clockspring.

I ran into this problem too, but after talking to a few, they will admit it can be done. There is, however, an aftermarket part by Rostra that you can buy, but me personally, I'd rather have the OEM setup than an add-in product. But, yes, it can be done. Finding someone to do it may be difficult because it can be a liability for the dealership if they screw it up. But from what I've heard, it can cost up to $500 (including labor, parts, and programming).
