Question Air Filter Lower Cover

Guys,

Can you guys help me out here. I bought a hose that connects to Air Filter lower cover (PCV filter). The one that I have is really loose so thought of replacing with new. I installed new hose but that is also staying loose. I suspect the lower cover is missing any part.

I've attached diagram

What is that part below #6 in lower cover. I don't have that in my focus air filter lower cover. I suspect that the dealer broke it, and now I have to buy entire air filter kit (200$)

I remember my dealer having hard time opening Air filter cover. He already broke side of upper air filter cover.

#6 is the PCV filter. I think there is a fitting for the PCV hose below that, yours may be broken. I would call an auto salvage yard and find a used airbox.

You are right. Inside fitting is broken (outside still exists). Since there is nothing to lock that pcv tube from inside, it's staying loose. How is that impact my car performance. I do feel performance loss after sudden brake.
I am going to check on salvage yard

Dang dude. Don't pay $200 for that assembly. If your going to I'll sell you mine for $190. Lol. No I'm just playing, I'm saving mine, just in case. But I guarentee someone will give you there stock setup for like $30. Or just buy an air intake and rip all that out. Just don't pay $200 for that assembly.

Are you asking what the #6 piece is? If you are, I believe it's like a little spong that fits in. That's what was in mine.

I bought that part #6 (PCV filter). I am talking about that small connector (some sort of lock) below part #6. I don't see that in my stock air box lower cover. Do you have any suck connector/lock inside air box ?

In my car, the tube that connects to lower air box left side is really loose. I would expect that to be locked by some sort of locking device.

You could try to glue it in. Clean all the oil/grease off with some carb or brake cleaner. Then use some epoxy to lock it in place.

MaroonZX3-
that's a great idea ! It's also cost effective. I bought new PCV tube last week that connects to lower air filter box cover. Once I glued that tube, no need to replace for another 50k miles. thanks !

Ahhhh you serious.... don't you dare to pay 200$ for the stock assembly. I am going to come down from Canada and beat your ass for that XD kidding.... Seriously, you can add like 50$ or so and get yourself an intake. SRI (short ram intake)

#6 is not a PCV VALVE. It is a breather hose which is not necessary at all, because i have a homemade SRI, where i use stock tube with cone filter and that tube #6 just has a small filter called breather filter. You can unplug it and your car will function the same way... do some research before you spend money.

Good luck.

Are dealers allowed to break things and not make it right for the customers?
