SVT died 2mi from the dealer :P

SVT died 2mi from the dealer :P

I took it in because it had a busted O2 sensor and the CEL was on. I felt it sort of lose power a couple times before taking it in.

They purportedly fixed a bend in the header and replaced the O2 sensor, but about 2mi from the dealer, the CEL came back on, the engine started getting groggy.. then it pooped. battery light came on. car died and wouldnt restart. Initially when rolling at 1.5-3k rpm it would feel groggy and not accelerate. It almost felt as if not all four cylinders were firing. I did have the CEL on for quite a while before I was able to take it in, so possibly the sparkplugs got gunked up from running so rich with no O2 sensor?

I bought the vehicle used with 22k mi on it with the intent to doing some major things to it, but if I can't get past these small probs, I don't see how I'll reach my goals.

What do we think the prob might be? Remaining O2 sensor probs? Maybe the battery isnt giving enough juice (I recently popped a 9006 sub back in). Maybe the ECU hasnt readjusted the the O2 sensor actually being there :P

wheeeeee

I just got my new issue of focusfanatics and my focus performance builder's handbook in the mail tonight, too. Picked them up from my PO Box just after getting towed back to the dealer in the cold pouring rain

I stopped at my friend's house for a beer to whine about it. rental taurus!!

I'm sorry to hear about your problems and I hope all gets worked out for you. I know how you feel about the whole rental taurus, I so hated that big, slow, fugly all the way around car.

I know its hard to not think negative right now, but when all the issues get worked out things will brighten back up.

Keep us posted and welcome to FF.com.

I am surprised an o2 sensor went out onnyour car. They fixed a bend in the header? You need to get all the info. Myabe you can climb under your car and take some pics b/c there is no way to diagnose your problem without more info.

first things first....not many ppl know this but for the Mach, audiophlie, SVT, and sony edition...you need to upgrade the altertator....it does not put out enough. They use the same alternator for every Focus, and the special edition foci require more power for the components, such as HIDs, Fogs, Amps.

I have a Mach. My alternator was the root of a few of my problems..... I went through 2 batteries that the dealer kept putting in saying the alt was fine....(the batteries died by the time I got home)and with the alt not putting out, my acceleration got slugish. My interior lights kept dimming, and my fogs kept burning out... I put in a higher output alt, and it all went away. The dealer just kept wanting to put the same model in...

My pocket.....they would not supply anything else but the ford specified alt.
Any autoparts store should have one that will fits. The output should be about 14 volts... the stock one fluctuates, it is never constaint. I watched go from 9 volts to 13. but it never stayed higher than 12 for long..... which is bad cause that means that the battery is not bein charged.

Just left a message for my tech about the potentially slobbering voltage. It really did seem to coincide with the installation and subsequent cranking-up of my newly installed OEM sub, and I did have it up to eleven when it started choking.
The music I like can be a little bass-heavy at times.

thanks for the info. yall are the greatest.
