to ff.com

there anrt many parts out for the spi engine. there are a few things you can do i know you can modifity a mustang throttle body to fit the spi, most intakes for zetec's fit the spi, the best place for most of the spi parts is the buy sell trade forum on here, tho they are pretty rare and hard to come by.

if ur gunna keep the spi
u should turbo it
their are enough parts to get goin for the spi
www.escortfocus.com
is the place

but if u decide to get a new faster motor
get the 2.4l duratec

it would be the best upgrade in my opinion

the duratec is a great swap idea if You have the time and money to do a proper swap. That's assuming Your looking for overall potential tuneability. I like the spi because it's a challenge to do, well, much of anything performance-wise. it has potential, really. But in the long run it may actually be cheaper to do the swap...

I say stick with this engine until you blow it up beyond repair. There is no use throwing good money in a swap without utilizing the perfectly good motor you already have.
