thank you i just wanted to know cause i was wondering after seeing two sets of wires going to the back. im gonna assume the wires wrapped in yellow are for the air bag and the other set should be for the heat.

There are three different types of SVT seats

Leather+Red
Leather+Blue
Recaros

From what I understand, the heated seats came as part of the winter-package. So unless your seats were a winter-package seat, they do not have any of the heating element components.

Oh, ok . That does clear that up for me, but do all of the cars that have the winter package have heated backrests as well as seat bottoms? ( I've got black/red seats with the winter package, but the only thing to get warm is the passenger seat bottom...) just trying to figure out how much I have to take apart to make everything work right. Both seat heater buttons light up, so I don't think the switch is the problem as far as the drivers side is concerned.

Yes, if the seats are heated there will be elements in both front seat backs and bottoms.

The heated seats can often be checked for codes that may help diagnosis but the switch is obviously good if the bottoms get warm. You likely have an issue with the back element, temp sensor or back element wiring.

do a quicke check with a multi meter to see if you have continuity on the back heating pads. It should read a real number for resistance (between 50 and 100 ohms iirc). if not, then you'll need to replace.

heres a thread for replacing hte seat bottom, but it might give you an idea about the seat back. ALso the parts may be discontinued (they are for the bottom) but talk to Steve at Tousley ford and he will be able to find another seat heat element that could be adapted.
