Caution: 9006 Audiophile Scam!

I lost my damned security piece that goes to the 9006 system. So i thought no big deal, just go buy another piece. I called ford and they said if you lose that security piece, you have to buy a WHOLE new stereo!!!! this is an outrage! That piece is made to come off, and they don't offer a replacement! I tried to jack one from a ford dealership, but not one friggin' car had the same system. I just wanted to warn everyone of this. DO NOT REMOVE THAT PIECE!
P.S. I have 6 cd's stuck in there, so I don't know how to get them out now :(

That is the purpose of the system. That way it is not desirable to steal the head unit. But you should be able to get one if you prove your the owner of the vehicle I would think.

This is silly. You provide proof of ownership to a Ford dealer, the part is ordered and you are on your way. You identify yourself, provide details about the car (VIN, maybe registration) and off you go. Read the Owner's Manual.

"Tried to jack one... .? Give me a break. Maybe you ought to see if you sat on the panel because I'm guessing that's where your head is... .

The reason you need a whole new stereo is because that little piece is coded to the exact face plate is was made for. It cannot be replaced.

Or send it to me and I'll make it work with out the stupid security piece. Or I'll get your cd's out for you. And for reference sake there is no code in it. So if you jack another one it will work.

Somewhere (in the manual I believe) it said that if it gets lost or broken you can have one ordered from Ford. What you have to do is call them up and give them the VIN and all that good stuff to prove that you actually own it (of cource) and they should be able to help you out.

i don't know for sure, but i would almost guarantee that the part is replaceable. it would be irrisponsible of Ford/Audiophile to produce something with an irreplaceable part that can be romoved. whether or not it has a code, is entirely irrelavant. A code can always be reprogammed.
