Help! Is it a transmission problem?

2001 Focus Automatic.

The problems are:

In the first few minutes after I start the car,

1) Using D, I can only reach 15 km/h,( D2 is ok, read 30-40 km/h), it seems that transmission does not work.

2) speedometer does not work(point zero)

3) Automatic lock does not work either. Usually it should lock a few seconds after when I start to drive forward.


The strange thing is : After driving for a few minutes,the autolock and speedometer suddenly come to normal at the same time, and at the same time transmission come to normal(but at the speed 20km/h I can still feel a little bit jerk). This happen several times.

Some mechanics said it is a transmission problem, while one of them suspect it may be speed sensor break. Could you help me analyze this case? Is it problem for the sensor to affect the transmission?

i would think speed sensor personally.

because the automatic locks close when you reach a certain speed.

the speed sensor drives the speedometer of course.

AND the speed sensor is used to determine when to shift.

so IMO thats whats wrong, altho i am not a certified mechanic.
