Yikes - 4-5 hours to complete with 2 1/2 hours to cut off the lunchbox - what the hell are you guys using, your wife's nail file? I guess we 08' owners are lucky. I started my lunchbox delete this evening at 8pm and had completed two test drives by 10pm. And I started at 8pm by going to Autozone to get the parts! The actual lunchbox delete, with parts at home (18" flex pipe 2" ID w/ included Ubolt, 1 extra Ubolt and muffler cement), took no more than 45 minutes.

I have no idea how the lunchbox is positioned on other years and models but on the 08' Sedan it was no problem to just raise the left rear, crawl under and with two cuts of my sawzall the lunchbox was on the ground (5 minutes maybe). I like Derek Zoolander above retained my stock 3" chrome tip (thanks for the help DZ). So it was just a matter of doing a nice job joining the tip to the remaining pipe and that's that.

So did I notice any difference. I'm liking it. It does give a nice short little rumble when it starts now. My Steeda SRI already gave the stock exhaust a nice sound so I'm having a hard time judging any difference. Is it louder? No, not in the car under normal driving conditions. But jump on it and yeah I'm thinking I hear a little more than before. I'll have to get some more time on the stick before I pass final judgment.

Overall a quick easy mod (while I guess if you have on 08' and a sawzall it's quick). I like others did it just for something to do while waiting for a full exhaust. I want a Magnaflow 2 1/2" stainless, but they don't have it in production yet for the 08'.

i didn't use any power tools. and yes, i have an awkward hacksaw so it took longer. Getting my lunchbox off was a bit of a bitch lol. it didn't want out.

I'm glad it worked out for you. 08's are a quiter car, undernormal driving you can hear it a little but if you punch it, whoever is behind you will wake up.

I'm still saving for my mbrp.

Jamus, I feel for you and I salute you. The fact that you spent 2 1/2 hours under your car with a hacksaw tells me that you are man of strong determination and will power , one that I would want around when things got tough.

I'm assuming you don't have a sawzall or you would have used it right? So get your ass out and buy one, even a cheap one at that. They come in handy for all sorts of things around the house and mine sure came in handy last night!

Here, don't know if you've ever heard of Harborfreight but they've got one for $33 bucks. Yeah, may not be the highest quality tools in the world but they get the job done.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I'll be putting a few miles on the car today, kids want to go visit their cousins about 40 minutes away by freeway. I'm taking them up, dropping 'em off and picking them up tonight. So lots of time to listen to my new exhaust and see how she performs now. Might just set the cruise and get out so I can hear it from behind.

i guess if u are gonna go this route for a short while at least coat it with some paint or some metal coating for an extra 5.00 because u never know how long its gonna take to save up for that exhaust. don't forget sometimes the unexpected just drives up

Good advice, I've heard that flex pipe can rust pretty quick. Seeing as how it's cemented in place now I don't think I want to try and take it off. Do you think a good spray of WD-40 would help, or light coat of grease, or..... any suggestions?

^^yea i'm doing that on my day off.

Brad white, Well the hacksaw i bought is like a tiny handle that holds the blade. I picked it up for 4 bucks. Also i didn't jack the car up either lol so my room was limited. my driveway is a little too uneven to trust the car jack.

I said 5 hours to give yourself some time and not to rush. Plus it was like 5 degrees out when i did this. ha.

wd40 may burn off after awhile... you can maybe throw paint on it prior to putting it on, but once the metal moves, it'll start scratching the paint off...

WD-40 out, guess I'll crawl back under with some high temp paint, better than nothing.
