went to the track last night (1/8 mile)

well, finally took the bone stock focus to the dragstrip last night. it ran worse than i thought, but i know the car needs a tune up anyway so i shouldn't have been surprised. it was only 1/8 mile. first run was 12.2xxx with tranny in D and the o/d off. second run was 12.0991 manually shifting. here is a video of the first run against a friend with a mildly modded xB. he won, but it was close. i would have run more to get used to the car, but the track workers said that i was possibly leaking brake fluid on the line, so i parked it after 2 runs. thing is, there are no indications of fluid loss on the car. everything is full. i have no idea what they were talking about.

Cool :) Thanks for the post ;) I think it's always interesting to race bone-stock vehicles before modding them in any way, to get a good baseline. I need to get my little '08 to the track. I haven't done a track run since my VR-4. My E39 //M got totaled before I could make any official runs in it. Oh well, that led me to getting the FoFo, so it's all good.

yes, no, maybe. i've ordered a CAI for it and i have a friend that is selling a pulley that i will probably get. i'm bound to do exhaust, but in the end i'm actually looking to get a bigger car (need it for the room). i will do some mods, but nothing really expensive.

A pulley? I usually hear that mentioned in regards to a Supercharged setup, ie : shorter pulley = faster revolution on the F/I system = more power. I would think that having a pulley without a S/C would be like having a blow off valve but no turbo?

crank pulley mods are pretty common without a power adder.

He is speaking of an "underdrive pulley" or possibly just a lighter crank pulley, both of which help to free up some of the parasitic loss from the driving of the engine accessories (a/c, power steering, etc.)
