E55's are easy to come by. if not, at least get some liquid clear lenses.

nacnudv8, how is the cutoff with HID? any lightthrow pics? how bout some pics in the dark with the halos and eyebrows...sorry im being a pain, and i know i can find out soon enough for myself. but it will help the thread.....
I'll do it tonight - well, in a few hours when it gets dark. I just got the working - what a game! turned out to be a bad ballast and a fuse - so I had two failures and was thinking all the time it was one issue. I have had them for over year and never had a problem.

pics coming soon. :)

Yeah I'd like to do that too sometime. When the h/beams (H7 halogen) go on its like the lights have gone off - because the HIDs are so white and bright!

I need to do that H/beam on with L/beam mod on the muti-function switch - that will help me.

Here you go:

the left bulb is a D2S and doesn't fit well - see the blue bulge? should be like the right - a clean line.

more cut-off pic:

These pics make the halos look whiter than they are.

Yeah, - the bulb in the left light is actually a D2C - which is the universal D2S/D2R fitment.

The projector says on the plastic inside the light: "D2S" - but when I first put the lights in I had H7 HID bulbs and they went straight in.

Since then I have been messing about with them and I had some D2S (C) bulbs so I thought 'let's put them in as that's what its really supposed to have'. Well as it turns out, the projector is really a H7 fitment, so I had to cut a notch in the D2S (C) plastic base to make it sit in the holder.

I also noticed that the D2C is a bit longer in the filament than then the H7 and hence the focus is not as good as the right hand (H7) side which still has the H7 HID in place. The D2S consequently does not seem to have such a good cut off in this projector. I'm gonna take it out and put the H7 back in. But I like the D2S's color temp better it is a little whiter (5000K) than my H7 which is about 6300K (bluer).

I know they're really far in there. I've never done it but some very long needle nose pliers or long 90deg pliers would probably be able to pull the bulb out. Good luck it looks a PIA!

Got any pics yet?

arghhhh...no pics yet. hell ive only opened one of the boxes. dude, those bulbs are so far down in there. i may end up opening them up and replacing the bulbs. besides. it will give me a chance to paint them the same color as the car and get rid of the chrome rings. yuk!

btw, these lights are made by the same people who make the aftermarket Mach headlights; the ones that dont come with lighting hardware.

i found it cool that these headlights come ready for OEM ballast! one could place an OEM style HID setup into these lights. they are also LHD and RHD, the cutoff shield is reversible; thought that was cool.

ill update ya on what i decide to do.

gotta get to ordering the leds i plan on putting in them.

laterz

Regarding being OEM ballast ready, do mean the OEM ballast can (does) fit inside the unit? I just have mine external to the unit.

I'd be interested in your choice of HID bulb. Mine called for a DS2, but I had to cut notches in it to fit (LHS) soI just put an H7 in the RHS.
