First race against a 2.3

First off I just want to share my story, in no way do I wish to start a debate between the SVTF owners and the 2.3 PZEV owners. So please lets all be nice.

Last night at one of the local 1/8 mile tracks called Bama Dragway I raced a 2004 ZX3 Rouch 2.3 Focus. This was my first time to ever race a 2.3, granted yes the PZEV was stock and well its kinda obvious that I'm not. The young man who owned the PZEV was very consistent in times, his times did not vary much with each of his runs. Times for the 2.3 were 10.58 to 10.70's, my times were 10.16 to 10.20's. Yes I know the times for both were very horrible. It was a very hot and super humid last night and the track conditions were not all that great, both of us were having problems with traction. Everyone was blaming the dew and the humid night for the horrible times and lack of traction. I was a little disappointed with the times from both. One good thing was I did not lose a race, not one and other than the loss to me the PZEV was also on a roll.

Either way I enjoyed the races, the PZEV gentleman was super nice and I did ask him to visit this site and I hope he will consider becoming a member. I look forward to future races against him, esp after a few mods.

What kind of 60 ft times are you getting?? As you said, the times for both vehicles were low, so maybe it was the track?

Thanks CKA.

My 60 ft times were about the same always in the 2.2 to 2.4 area. Which still sucks!!!!!!!!!

Truth be told I have no idea what affects the times, Alabama's humid weather, elevation? Who knows, I've raced against and watched other SVTF run at the dragway, the times I've seen are not any better than mine. Not to brag but my times are better, due to the fact I have more aftermarket mods. I'm getting a little tired of not getting into the 9's down here and with my mods I should be well into the 9's. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sounds like it must be the track, or the humidity. Have you had your car dynotuned?

My last dyno was at Walker DynoTune, Dynojet Chassis Dynomometer (SAE) about a year ago. Dyno was to tune my exhaust cam gear, engine mods at the time were the AEM CAI, ORP, and Borla exhaust. Number were 160.1 HP and 137.6 TQ at the wheels after tune.

You should definitely be in the mid 9's with that much power. What about your tires?
