I'm about to do this with my car. I'm assuming you'd have to remove the lower splash gaurd and put some cardboard behind it so the paint won't get to the radiator. Then use painter's tape for the exterior, maybe a tarp, too. You could remove the whole bumper and tape it off, but i don't think that's necessary.

Just wet sand what you want painted with 320 grit. That'll help the paint stick. Primer it and wet sand it again but don't cut through the primer or you'll have to put primer on it again. Just make sure the primer has been wet sanded with 320 grit. Paint away with color. If you want clear, wet sand with 320 again or even finer if you'd like. Then clear. Polish and you're done.

What exactly do you do when you wet sand? Sand away with a wet surface?

Yeah, you have to keep it really wet at all times. For small projects I use a spray bottle in one hand and sand with the other. Keeping it wet helps remove the crap your sanding away.

I didn't realize it was the grill you wanted photoshoped. Let me see if I can get time to use one of our designers computers here at work and do a quick rendition.

You could paint the billet if you really wanted to. Powder coating would be ideal. If you paint the billet, scuff it up with a scuff pad and use what they call "Etching Primer". It's intended to stick to metal really good. In fact, it sticks so good that if the color paint chips away, the primer will still be intact.
