I didn't see a sub 4 cylinder selection? I'd opt for a 3 cylinder in the 1200 cc class. I also would prefer diesel but they car manufactures seem determined to keep them from our shores.

Odd that diesel and hybrids are lumped together? Hybrids shine in stop & go while diesel come into play on the hwy. Totally different driving regimes.

True, but diesels idle far more effeciently than regular gas powered cars and trucks.

... and the TDI desiels get as good MPG in town as the hybrids do on the highway. I get 45 in town stop and go and well over 50 on the highway
