Checking in

Hi everybody! I've been lurking for 6 months or so, but finally took the plunge today just to participate in the Autocross forum here... Been a member on another Focus forum since 2001, and still haven't reached 100 posts there!!!

I was bitten hard by the autocross bug last year, and decided to get serious for 2008. I've got a nearly stock 95k mile 01 zx3 with a catback and the SVT shocks/strut kit as the only mods. This year, I'm running 205/50/15 Azenis on split 8-spokes - last year I ran wornout 40k mile all-seasons, which REALLY sucked! The car is also my year-round daily driver with regular street rubber...

I'm a member of the Crown Autocross club in Kansas City. We have an indexed "street tire" class that I'm running in out of H-stock.

Congrats on your win. I wish our club had a Street tire class. I get tired of getting my butt kicked by the guys with the R Compound tires.

Bob, I hate to rain on your parade but the SVT suspension kicks you out of HS. STS would be a good place for you.

I believe he only has the struts, not the entire SVT suspension.

That's correct - as I stated, I'm running the SVT shock/strut kit (M-18000-ZX3 Damper Kit), NOT the full SVT kit with springs and new RSB. I'm well aware that a spring change would knock me out of stock - Still running my stock (95k mile ZX3) springs to stay legal.

I actually ran STS last year, due to some slotted & drilled rotors that a vendor sent me by mistake . I had to change those out as well to stay HS legal.

My mistake. I guess I naturally assume that SVT suspension means the whole enchilada.

I have the full SVT kit on my Focus (plus Prothane rear swaybar bushings) and man, does it change the car.

Yeah, I debated staying in STS and buying the "Saleen Suspension Kit" when they were closing them out last year (I also own a Saleen Mustang). But, this car is my daily-driver and at age 44, I'd rather have comfort than speed for commuting! Besides, my wife constantly reminds me that "it's JUST a Focus!".
