Engine

I threw a rod straight through the block and out the oil pan. Having a hard time finding a good price on the spi engine and found a reman ztec for $1200. So my question is, Will the ztec fit with or with out mods to anything in the engine compartment????

I saw your other post concerning engine swaps.
Don't you folks have wicked emission laws in Texas? Swapping a non-OEM motor into a car isn't a legal swap, you'll never get it to pass emissions.

FYI, there's a whole section on engine swaps you can dig through.

^^ That's where I'm going to move this to.

You should get a better answer, although regardless of which way you choose to swap engines the best thing to find is a complete wrecked vehicle because you'll need ECU, harness, and applicable transmission for either swap. Wrecked Focis aren't horribly hard to find, and you'll be able to compare engine compartments before performing the swap in case there are emissions or AC differences to take into account. The easiest way to swap the mechanical parts would be to simply drop the engine and transmission on the crossmember as a whole and lift the car body. Whatever you decide to do, think it through completely, and make sure you have everything you need to do it safely.

I've done it this way on a couple of other FWD's, but I had a wrecker at my disposal. Hydraulic car lifts make it even easier than my experience.
