Why bother? You can make similar horsepower with turbocharging the motor you have, and avoid all the obvious challenges and costs in adapting a Mitsu engine to a Ford.

It's not that easy. All four cylinder engines are not interchangeable just because they are 4 cylinders. Engine mounts would have to be fabricated. It would not mate up to the focus tranny and you couldn't used the EVO tranny because it is AWD unless you want to get into even more fabrication of a custom rear subframe. There are numerous other things that would probably have to be fabricated as well. Then you have wiring and ECU issues to figure out. Would it "fit" in the engine bay? Yes, probably. Would it be easy to make work correctly? No.

With that being said, almost anything is possible with enough money. But why put an EVO motor in a focus anyway? Just go buy an EVO! By the time you spent all the money getting every thing to work properly you would have much more money in the Focus that just buying an EVO straight up.

yeah...i'd have to guess that the money it would cost you could probably just be spent to buy an evo AND probably boost the focus. it'd be a ridiculous amount of work that would only be worth it if you're some custom company just wanting to show off. EVERYTHING would have to be custom, as nothing would match up. asking "since its a four cylinder..." would be like asking "since the lambo gallardo is a v10...and the audi rs6 has a v10...can i put a gallardo engine in my audi a6?" yeah, it'd be pretty frickin' awesome if you could do it...but why? and at what cost?!

Build the Duratec for boost and turbo it. theres nothing about the evo engine thatd make it worthwhile.
