when do you hear the clunking sound?

if its while going over bumps it could be the strut tower bushing
i think if its while moving the steering wheel it could be the outer tie rod end

I did the replacement several weeks ago. Within 2 days it was back to the popping, clunking sound. Got under the car and found several of the cross member bolts loose and missing one. I think that was the garage that replaced the clutch. Anyway took for another drive and still the same noise. Yesterday I had my son lay on the floor while I rocked the car back and fourth and sure enough, the lower connection on the D-side sway bar link was loose, you could see it move with the sound. Seems I forgot to torque it down. I am happy to say not a squeak from the front end. My 2 pennies worth. Hope you find it.

yesterday while i was doing a brake job on my car i noticed one of the sway bar links wasnt even connected !!!!!! so i finished up the brakes wich went smooth as butter and went over to vip and ordered 2 moog replacements , they came in this morning and im going out right now to replace both of them. they look alot better than the oems and have grease fittings , paid 25 each but i think it will be worth it.

cant believe how crappy those oem end links were...the boots were ripped and to top it all off both outer tie rod ends have the boots ripped. cheap a$$ parts to make some extra money off the consumer...

What does Pep Boys charge for replacing 02 SVT focus end links? How about others like Mr. Tire, and etc...

Dangers of driving with a busted end link? So far, just seems like bad handling.
