Post SVTF CFM DSI Billet Clip/Lever Install

I thought this would be a good idea, since I haven't been able to find a how-to on installing a CFM DSI Clip. So with out further ado

Tools Needed:
1. Small flat head screw driver
2. Small cutters
3. If yall have to remove your stock intake box you will need a couple more hand tools, but since I changed my intake I cannot remember what is needed for this
4. SMALL HANDS

Time Required:
Mechanic: 15-30 min.
DIYer:Up to 1 hour.

To start off with have the car cool. I believe you will have to remove the stock SVT air box.( I didn't have to because I have AEM CAI) The Clip is located on the lower part of the intake right under the TB.

Remove that silver/metal clip that holds the DSI Clip on. I used a flat tip screw driver to bend it out and a small pair of cutters to cut the clip off. Be careful this clip does have a clock spring on it. Then I used the same screw driver to gently pry the clip off. It has a kind of press like fit so you will have to work with it a bit. Just in case you cant tell what clip I am talking about here is a pic of it.

Once you get the DSI Clip off, Gently work the cable off. It is just a press on fit. It should come off fairly easy, but you may have to work with it a bit. Next remove the clock spring from the old DSI Clip, I have been told these will spring out. Mine was stuck in the old clip and I had to pry it out. So if yours just falls out no big deal, just make sure it isn't broken, if it is get a new one from ford. You can drive the car with this not hooked up, just do not rev more than 5K. Next Install the clock spring into the new clip there are two different ways the clip can be installed, It's almost impossible to explain how the spring is put in.

When you go to install this back on the car you will be able to tell if it is on correctly. Install this clip onto the car, you will have to index this so it will have some constant spring force on it. Again this piece going back on is like a press fit, so you will have to apply some pressure. Look out and check to make sure the spring did not come loose while installing the clip, the first time I installed it it made a clicking noise and I noticed that the spring had moved. If this happens just remove the clip and try again. I used the e clip supplied with CFMs DSI Clip. Here is a pic:

Now all that is left to do is to install the cable. Just gently push the cable back on the post for it. Here is a pic of the clip completely installed and hooked back up. Sorry about the blurry pic.

Personally I noticed the DSI Felt like it came in sooner than before. The cable was a bit loose on my old DSI Clip and on this one it is fairly tight. Hopefully this helps yall out on this inexpensive mod.

Noice! I've been thinking about this myself but wasn't sure how difficult it would be. I may have to try this one soon.

I've already got the part. I was waiting on a good write up though. I think Mike is going to help me with mine Saturday. I hope so anyway. Laters, Brandon

Moved to SVT Performance Chat...

No sense hiding this over in the regional forums.
I'm sure a lot of people would benefit from this thread.

Glad to see CFM supplying a e-clip instead of the impossible to get on replica stock clip. I went to Home depot to buy small e-clips and install when I first purchased. Good write up.

Thanks WD40, I sent a pm to S2 about maybe putting this in the How-To forum. But he hasn't gotten back to me about it.
