I found these stats on Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...9/pageId=67450)
Performance Top 0 - 30 (sec): 2.0 0 - 45 (sec): 3.5 0 - 60 (sec): 5.2 0 - 75 (sec): 7.8 1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 13.49 @ 102.24 30 - 0 (ft): 30.1 60 - 0 (ft): 120.0 Braking Rating (Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Very Poor): Excellent Slalom (mph): 63.9 Skid Pad Lateral acceleration (g): 0.9 Handling Rating (Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Very Poor): Excellent Db @ Idle: N/A Db @ Full Throttle: N/A Db @ 70 mph Cruise: N/A Acceleration Comments: Best technique was simply leaving it in "Drive" with traction control off and launching with mild brake torquing. Handling Comments: Immense grip despite heavy understeer. Intrusive stability control system but still posted impressive speed through the cones.

To also mention.....the stability control on those jeeps are constantly on like our SVTs with the TC issue. It won't completely shut off to aid in faster cornering times so chalk up a point for the SVT on that issue.

Those are steady-state numbers on a skidpad. No doubt the Jeep numbers are impressive, but that's only one small part of the picture when it comes to handling. You could take any vehicle and just give it enough contact patch with big-ass tires to get high-g's, and it could still handle like a pig.

Here's an example...Take an F1 open wheel racer keep all the components on it but give it a six inch lift and see how much better it handles.....No matter what the Jeep can do, although it is impressive for a SUV, it's still going to have to battle with that high center of gravity.
I hope one of these is at Autobahn Raceway next month. I would like to pit my SVT against one. I've got nothing to lose...lol |

But Debate is fun...The exchange of different ideas, possibly with both sides of the arguement being enlightened along the way...Thats a good thing. As long as it stays civil (hear me? ) and polite ; there is no need to lock a thread like this...

wasn't the SVT's slalom speed aroun 67-69 mph? Skid pad is one thing slalom speed is another.
.87g at 63 < .86g at 67 just hook the rain gutter and you can hold 1.5g at 75 which makes you the Downhill King. where my AE86! kudos to those who get that reference.

That's what I was saying many posts above back on the previous page that the all important slalom tests were being excluded on just weren't available for some reason.

Is anybody else as tired of the old " I'll get him in the twisties" defense as I am? Its the same thing as telling the ugly kid that beauty is only skin deep its what inside that counts. Our cars are slow face it, they always will be ( with a few exceptions). Regardless of how " great" the focus is in the twisties its still nothing special.
