Rising from the wreckage
Less a wreckage and more a fender bender. Never the less, anytime somebody hits your car, it's NEVER cheap. On my way home a few weeks ago, somebody rear ended my SVTF, fortunately not setting off the airbags. UNfortunately, the damage to my SVTF that I got back in November totaled close to $5600 bucks (the car's value was estimated at $8200, or so).
They opted to fix the car, but because it's an SVT, everything that was replaced (rear gate, bumper assembly, right rear fender, trim) were ALL special order. Lucky for me, that means there were no after market were used, except a bumper brace. I went to pick up the car today, but ended up leaving the car with the collision center because of a paint run on the fuel door. They are going to repaint it, to include the inside of the fuel door.
I was surprised that the color match was really good, as was the texturing. It's a very close match. Overall I'm pretty happy with the quality of the job. The only thing that pisses me off is an $8200 car with $5600 in damage only warrants $300 in depreciation compensation. I tried to argue the point that if I sold the vehicle, I would lose a lot more than $300 in trade-in value.
Anyway, they should be done fixing the car tonight and I should have it back tomorrow. I'll post pictures of how it looks now. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of the damage.
