what is this? i know some of you have been there

As some of you may know im a pilot, just moved to AZ in Jan, and i have flown over this quite a few times on my way to SoCal or Vegas

i know it is a raceway park, another time i flew by there were cars around the track, located south of phx, about 15nm from sky harbor, looks like a cool place.

Very nice pictures, looks like Firebird Raceway. Why do you have to fly so far south to get to LV?

for traffic spacing, sky harbor is a busy airport the runways are oirented east/west. I fly out of Williams Gateway in Mesa, so when you go north you fly south and get radar vectors right over the top of sky harbor airport intercept the airwary and onto vegas

the NASA guys will actually be at the track at the bottom of the picture on April 5th. I'm getting funds together as we speak to drive this course as its probably the best track in AZ.

nice man, the seminole is a great little commuter plane!! would be cooler if it was a turbo prop, but piston works just as well!

are you doing the flight training with ASU or on your own? If with ASU do you know my buddy Roch, he's french and drives a Gray new gen mustang?

During these flights, do you shuttle people around or just fly solo?

the seminole is nice, the counter rotating props makes it a very easy plane to fly and helps out the aerodynamics of the aircraft, a turboprop would the awesome the Diamond Star is awesome, or a King Air, But with the Very Light Jet segment coming soon turbo props are gonna be replace quickly with the VLJ's like the honda jet, and the Diamond jet.

Right now its just myself and another student, just flying from place to place to build time, my next rating (license) is commercial and you need to have 50 hours of Cross Country time (stright line distance of 50nm or more) and snice the Seminole has 360 total hp 50nm and back usally takes under an hour depending on winds aloft, so thes longer trips we have been taking have been well over 200nm, so example today Riverside Califorina to Mesa Gateway with a tail wind Ground Speed around 160-170kts with climb and decent and being radar vectored around the south of phx took about 2 hours in the plane and about 320nm travel.
