^^^^ i found this place:

http://www.saferacer.com/auto-racing-helmets/?cat=52

and i believe the rating the helmet needs to be at least an M rating for motorcycle, but a helmet is an investment, so whats the price of your head? lol again im sure we can let eachother borrow a helmet if our runs are seperated enough. i also am planning to purchase a set of sparco gloves here shortly, they are only roughly $70 and help your hand breathe and grip well, and also a weighted shiftknob.

heres a quick glance if everyone wants to know how to classify their car:

We have eight classes, loosely categorized by displacement, modifications, and tires. Clarifications are listed below the classes.
A - Modified race tire (all)
B - Production race tire 3 liters and greater
C - Production race tire less than 3 liters
D - Modified street tire 3 liters and greater
E - Modified street tire less than 3 liters
F - Production street tire 3 liters and greater
G - Production street tire less than 3 liters
R - Open or closed wheel race cars (all)
Modified cars are production-based cars with any of the following modifications:
Any internal engine modification (crank, cams, rods, pistons)
Any external engine modification that alters fuel delivery (alternate carb, altered fuel injection, fuel-air ratio adjusters)
Any non-factory engine replacement
Welded chassis reinforcement, including welded roll bars/cages
Alternate or altered springs
Altered suspension geometry (relocated pickup points, alternate suspension parts to increase factory alignment adjustment range such as camber kits, camber plates, or slotted strut mounts)
Alternate main body panels (doors, hood, trunk lid, fenders, roof panel, windows)
Removal of factory interior parts (seats, interior panels)
Other classing notes:
Any and all modifications not listed are allowed in the production classes.
Street tires are DOT approved tires with treadwear rating of 140 or above.
Forced induction (turbo or supercharger) bumps engine displacement by a factor of 1.5. (e.g. a 2.2 liter turbocharged engine would be classed as 3.3 liter)
Any non-production based vehicle (such as kit cars or tube-framed "look-alikes") will be classed as a "Race Car" unless deemed an appropriate fit for a lesser class.

following the above, my car is classified in class E

and from what it looks like, Jim will be running with the larger class of cars because of the turbo his engine will be classified as a 3.0L rather than a 2.0

i myself may go with this one:

http://www.saferacer.com/simpson-cru...productid=1050

it has a snell rating, so i can use it at sebring raceway whenever i go.

or there is a G-force on on that same site, which looks the same for half the price. ill have to look more into the more inexpensive one.

They have plenty of helmets available for you to use. No need to buy one unless you really don't wanna wear a helmet that other people have used....
Oh and Chris, I may go to that autoX if it isn't going to be too hot. I have been there before it's a good time.
I already have plans to goto the FAST autoX in Lakeland on April 6th
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...59877739121272
There are always no-shows so if you show up in time you should be able to run your car and definatly can watch. It's $30 to drive I belive and $5 to spectate/have lunch the $5 is really just to cover lunch. Please feel free to come out to this one, if I remember correctly some of you guys live out that way anyway...

early april i have alot of b-days to attend so i wont be able to make it out there for that one.

on a side note, i got a reply back from FAST about helmets:

Quote:
For FAST events, anything that's DOT approved and covers the ears is OK with our insurance.
