I believe there's a rubber grommet you can remove and see the plastic ring on the pump. Once you locate that you can determine where to cut. However if somebody has a picture of this it would be very helpful.

reviving an old thread. I think my fuel pump crapped itself. The car started and started sputtering like it had no fuel. Eventually it stalled out. I can crank it but no fuel and i don't hear the fuel pump turn on. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I changed the fuse and no pump still.
I have a 2002 zetec built 12/01. Does that mean I use the 00-01 fuel pumps? Can I just swap in a later model basket with no other modifications? Thanks. |

From Whynotthinkwhynot
""""Most every Japanese car I've ever changed the fuel pump on had a removable cover. WTH is wrong with our boys and girls in Detroit???"""" Remember the 'Pinto inferno'? The 'pipe' leading to the tank from the gas cap was INSIDE the car so a rear ended hit would cause the gas to burst thru the hose and spray the whole inside of the car. While properly designed flap could prevent this, I bet the engineers are 'gun shy' |
