I bought a Ford GT pump from Mike at Hilbish. He told me that the wires from the relay must be change to thicker wires because the pump draws too big of amperage. Anyone know which wires to change?

my '95 escort had the cut out for the fuel pump, how much more could it really cost them to put a cutout in for ease of access??!!

so where exactly is the pump if i were to go the route of making a cutout? i dont wanna cut a hole and there be no gas tank underneath. lmao. is it under the passenger's seat?

I believe there's a rubber grommet you can remove and see the plastic ring on the pump. Once you locate that you can determine where to cut. However if somebody has a picture of this it would be very helpful.

reviving an old thread. I think my fuel pump crapped itself. The car started and started sputtering like it had no fuel. Eventually it stalled out. I can crank it but no fuel and i don't hear the fuel pump turn on. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I changed the fuse and no pump still.

I have a 2002 zetec built 12/01. Does that mean I use the 00-01 fuel pumps? Can I just swap in a later model basket with no other modifications?

Remember the 'Pinto inferno'? The 'pipe' leading to the tank from the gas cap was INSIDE the car so a rear ended hit would cause the gas to burst thru the hose and spray the whole inside of the car. While properly designed flap could prevent this, I bet the engineers are 'gun shy'
