you can boost a duratec...

PS im having serious issues with my gear selector on top of the trans... it is hitting the trans mount going into first and has MAJOR clearance issues in 2-4-R with the shift cable attached to the counterweight...

btw this is illinipo... sorry!

I had this problem when I did my engine/tranny swap... Turned out I was using studs to mount the transmission mount instead of using the proper bolts. With a job that big it was difficult to keep track of all the fasteners (even with ziplock bags).

yes i know you can boost a dura that was what was gonna do with the roush, but for money and insurance reasons its cheaper for me to get an 02 or something around that.

So how many people have done this? How is everything holding up?

I got a atx focus with a blown motor (for cheap) and swapped out the motor (picked up a motor with 2k miles on it, me and 2 friends swapped it out) to get it back on the road. This car is my winter car/daily driver right now. I was thinking if people have had success with this I would try to gather parts over the winter and do this in spring because man this car would be fun as hell to romp on if it was a 5 speed.

Those who have done it let me know how it went and how it is now.

running great! Got about 1,000 miles on mine now, many of them pretty hard miles (i dont drive like grandma...).

my ECU strategy is a little funky (1m19) so we havent been able to defeat all to the CEL's with the tune... im gonna try to wire some things out but i dunno how its gonna work out. So I still have 5 CEL codes. Depending on your ecu strategy this shouldnt be a problem for an SCT dealer. But if you go the route of just getting an mtx ecu, then you definitely wont have problems!

also my tune is a little funky, it takes a hundred miles or so to learn the new idle strategy without the load of the torque converter on the engine, so the revs hang/climb to 2500, but it goes away after a while (about 100 miles after loading a tune) and runs like a normal mtx car.

also I think some of the syncros on the trans I bought are shot, sometimes it wont let me go into 4th no matter how hard i push and sometimes not 2nd, so im thinking the previous owner didnt know what rev-matching means...

other than that it is running great, won 1st in class at autox a few weeks ago!

I definitely recommend the Exedy OEM replacement clutch from Focussport, this thing can hold up to some abuse...

I have about 12,000 miles on mine. It's fine, just the CEL thing, but hey that's a small price to pay.
