I picked it up at a small camera shop in Vernon Hills, IL. It comes with a plate you attach to the bottom of the camera making it a quick release.

After looking at everyones setup I finally quit the procrastinating and got my ass over to the Depot this morning and spent about 16 bucks total.

Most of it on a piece of heavy gauge 1" square stock aluminum, and the rest on 2 u-bolts, a eye bolt and some lock washers. Wrapped it all up with pipe insulation so its tough to see the bones of it. But I removed the base from a old tripod I haven't used in forever, smoothed down a wooden dowel so the base can now swivel vertically.

Took a quick ride down the street and it is a bumpy recording but not that bad. I've yet to check if OIS is on or not- I'll fine tune the camera tonight, for the first solo points event in South Jersey. I'm so stoked- now only if my driving looks as good!?!

O Yeah- it even matches the interior nicely.

I put it to good use today at the first points event of the season. The bumpiness really translates to the camera, but eh my ride quality sucks anyway- I'm working on transferring it from DV to PC- I'll add a clip tonight!

Put the mount on your passenger seat, and run a strap from the headrest to one of the rear seatbelt mounts to tighten it up.
I haven't had to do that (my video cam has really good image stabilization) but I have seen others have good success with the strap.

do you have any vids WD? looking back mine doesn't seem to be much worse then WeeASP's. But that may be youtube or the terrible conversion quality hiding it.

I did the same at Limerock Park...bumpy as all you-know-what. The passenger headrest mount plus a cinch strap back to rear seat belts worked great to keep the car and cam bouncing around in unison...nice video came from that set up.

I've got a bunch:
http://www.supermotors.net/vehicles/registry/4940/27030
The first two were before I got my wide angle lens.

All vids are taken with camera mounted to passenger seat headrest.
No straps...as I mentioned, that image stabilization on the Sony is phenomenal.

I love my camera mount. However you need a harness bar or roll cage to hook it to.

I used one of these...nicely made and not a lot of $$$:

CruiseCam
CruiseCam headrest mount
The headrest mount works pretty well as long as you strap it to the rear belts.
