1995 Ranger 2.3

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows about or has performed a 2.3 duratec swap from a ranger into their focus. I know the engine is basically the same as the 2.3 dura that was in the focus, but I wasn't sure if it would "bolt right up" to the focus mounts. I need to know quick because i have a itchy trigger finger on a 95 ranger dura on ebay only like 2 hours away from here, that i could pick up.
Thanks,
Kevin

i thought that the older ones were the ones with the 8 spark plugs? i may be wrong. but i thought that it was (i wanna say) 2002 maybe 03 rangers that have the 2.3 dura with the same set up as the focus. i may be wrong. i would message egz and find out. he seams to know a lot about the 2.3 from the rangers.

no they got 4 plugs. personally, i hated the 2.3L that came in the ranger, so underpowered. Good luck getin up a hill with that engine.

Just so its on the board:

The engine in the 1995 Ranger is the 2.3l SOHC Lima/Pinto engine. Its a design that goes all the way back to the 1970s. It wasn't until Mid-2001 that the Ranger got the Duratec 2.3l engine.

And regarding the 8 sparkplugs. The Pinto engine was modified in its last days (~1989) to have 2 plugs per cylinder.

83 - 94 2.3L had single spark plugs per cylinder.

95 - 0? 2.3L had dual spark plugs per cylinder.

Performance parts are out there... Just cost money for the parts.

My 95 Ranger 4x4 2.3L had power. I would smoke 33x12.50x15's with stock 4.10 gears like nothing. Then with the 4.56's that was another story.

the 2.3 lima is my bread an butter. I personally own several SVOs and 1 turbo ranger. It is not a direct swap for the duratec motor.

I was going to say, I've seen a MGB that had a 2.3l Ranger engine swapped into it. It was carbed, but built and made mad crazy power for what it was. One of my favorite swaps I've seen done to an MG.

As for the Focus, I can't see the drivetrain being fun to get to cooperate.

I have a 1993 Mustang (Last year before the big body change) that had the 2.3l 8 plug. Was a decent engine. Granted it was hella underpowered for a Mustang. But for my daily driver commuting to and from work, it was good. Got better MPG than my 2002 ZX3.
