built duratec into svt keeping getrag

guys, i have a thought.... doesnt happen often, and its scary when it does.

if i were to build a 2.3 duratec motor to swap into my svt, can i keep the getrag? what else has to change? wiring? that should be it. i just think the whole duratec platform gets more support than the svt aftermarket wise. but i dunno. what all is inc=volved besides the wiring?

i vote stroke your zetec, the reason for the lack of aftermarket for the SVT zetec is because they pretty much engineered the hell out of it, your comment is tantamount to "i've got a 2003 cobra, and im thinking about tossing a 5.4l in it because it has a better aftermarket" if you look at the aftermarket for the cobra, the only real engine upgrades are a different blower or a different pulley for the blower. you can get the power you want out of the zetec easily, however if you goal is to work on the car for the sake of working on the car, get a base model anything and start there, the svt already has the work done to it, unless of course you want a blower/turbo, or different suspension.

Nope, same MTX-75 with a different bell housing. Only the SPI and SVT got something else.

I can respect that, however, it would be different i guess. havent seen it done. i mean guys put v8's in them all the time. i was just wondering b/c of all the cosworth aftermarket parts and all. you could make a bomb proof motor to hold some sick boost out of duratec, right? using the cosworth parts and such? this is a mere thought. i guess you can buiold a bomb proof motor out of any motor for that matter. hmm.. i answered my won question. the end of the "what if i built a duratec and swapped it"
