The 2.3's have metal valve covers, most of the Zetecs have plastic valve covers...

You're going to LIKE the 2.3!

Never seen a Duratec with a metal valve cover... Neither my 05 ST nor my sisters 07 SES have one. Both are black plastic.

PZEV was the 2.3 Duratec motor made for foci in 03-04 that lived in states that were really emissions strict like california. I do not believe it is any different at all. Maybe some pics would shed some light.

ive got a 2003 2.3 l duratec, metal valve cover. PZEV equals partial zero emissions vehicle= lower emissions. Shouldnt really be that big of a difference between them, and yeah you will love the Duratec engine. I do!

Are you sure that it is an 05/2.3? I was under the impression that the 05 2.3's were for the ST only and not a PZEV tune. The PZEV cars for places such as cali were reverted back to the 2.0 as far as I know. If you have an 05 motor for sure then chances are you have the 2.0. One great way to tell if you have a 2.3 over the 2.0 is pull the oil pan and check to see if you have the balance shaft assembly in there with the crank. If it is not present then you have the 2.0. (who knows maybe someone just liked the metal valve cover and put it on their ST)
