I believe that sensor is located on the back side of the block above the passenger side axle can't miss it, one torque bolt holding it in and the wires.

I'm pretty sure on the SVT's it's on the front of the trans bell housing just to the right of the exhaust manifold but I was just wondering if anyone had one out before and how it was done?? thanks

Crank Sensor Specs.

Hey all,

PLease help if you can. I have the crank sensor out of my focus, it was on the tranny bell housing by the exhaust manifold. I am bench testing it and i get up to 0.03Volts when pulling a piece of metal away from the sensor, this means it is picking it up but is the signal strong enough?? and it has 380Ohms of resistance at rest?? is this normal?? please halp my car won't start and I've noticed there is no tach reading on my gauge in the digital mode.

I don't know if this is going to help you. I will give it a shot! Your testing a 'hall effect sensor'. your testing method is somewhat flawed. Using a piece of steel approximate size of the 'nub' on your flywheel, bring the metal across the sensor (imitate the motion of the flywheel). I would guess that a small screwdriver would work. Speed is less important than distance. do NOT use a magnetized screwdriver or anything magnetized (can ruin it). You will probably need an oscilloscope to view and measure the actual output. VOM are to slow. Hall sensors last a very very long time. I would suggest you instead look closely at the wiring. measure the voltage supplied TO the sensor (I.E. make sure the connector has not gone or going bad). Hall sensors typically have a pretty wide voltage range with a fixed current, and the output varies with the voltage if I recall correctly. Without the specific industry part number it is impossible to look it up.
Hope that helps!
