dnt necessarily need a full face. if your only amateur auto crossing it shouldnt be necesssary for a full face helmet. i took the eyesheild off my rocket helmet (still using the ugly yellow thing, lol) since it was more of an annoyance. just make sure it's dot approved and if you really have a question on it ask the organizer of the event and see what he says. (some of the autocrossers here use harley helmets cuz they are dot approved and arent a full face unit. if your hitting the bigger tracks and going a lot faster i'd get the good stuff now so yu dont end up ina bad way later shoud your car get homocidal on you.
MR. freaking negative
i'm not an enthusiast...... the internets told me.

DOT-218 and Snell-M2000
HJC CL-14 Tribe

All the venting helps on the days I'm sittind and waiting. But I believe I may need to look at a new one soon as I believe alot of organizations are now upping the ratings required.

More often than not, that helmet will not be legal for SCCA AutoCross, unless you find a region that has lower standards.
You want SNELL approved, not just DOT:
4.3.1 Helmets
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on course:
All helmets meeting the current or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA, K, or M),
or SFI standards 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, or 41.2A are acceptable.
Helmets meeting British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are also acceptable.
^^^Nothing in there about DOT, and I haven't been to an event yet where DOT was allowed, unless it also had a SNELL rating.
Oh, "current or two immediately preceding standards" explanation:
Current - 2005
2 Preceding - 2000 and 1995.
Next year, it'll be 2010, 2005, and 2000 that will be legal.

G Force has had a great deal going for some time. $199 for a snell rated, full face, free fleece lined bag. Not sure if it includes free shipping. Stay away from the motorcycle shops for helmets as they are M rated and not allowed in SCCA.
H & R springs, Addco rear sway, frt & rear stress bars, s/s brake lines, adj. KYBs, Short air ram, UDP, shift kit, Hawk pads, speed bleeders, Torsen , Fidanza flywheel, MBRP catback, TB, SVT header
