Black plastic trim...

I'm going to paint that black plastic strip on the trunk by the Frod emblem. I painting it chrome to match everything else (the focus letters). I'm also thinking about going ahead and doing the 2 black strips on the sides, the door handles, the mirrors, and the front grill chrome. I'm gonna do the back strip for sure but what do you all think about the other stuff? Is it too much or will it look nicer than the black plastic?

I would but I can't find an exact match of my car (Sangria red). I'm only gonna use krylon spray paint and the closest I can get is cherry red but its not an exact match. I'm also leaning towards the crhome because it would be different.

whatever color you go with wont last........my gf's best friends dad (whew) owns a body shop and has told me repeatedly he wont paint my moldings cause they wont last over time and he refuses to do shitty work. Im not an expert but this is what an expert told me. There are people that HAVE painted them , but no one has had them for any length of time to dispute this claim.

Convince him it's not shitty work and that you'll pay him to paint them again if it messes up. I think it should last don't see whay it wouldn't. I'm gonna sand em down, paint like 4 layers of chrome then cover w/ 2 layers of cyrstal clear gloss. Should work fine I think.

I'm going to paint my rear plastic strip color matched on my wagon. You just have to make sure the surface is prepared correctly. As far as not lasting, I don't see a problem if you put on enough coats. Plastic is painted on cars all the time and it seems to last reasonably well. The bumper skins on the Focus are plastic and painted, side strips on some models also.
