Couple of Questions
I didnt really know where to post this but this but here are my questions
I'm going to the track for the 1st time in a couple days. What a good time for me to run? Here is what I have in my car: Cat-Back, Short ram intake, Diablo chip, UDP, Bosh plucgs and Synthetic oil if those makes any difference (i heard it makes a little bit of one). I am also going to take out my back seat and spare tire. Oh yeah its an auto too (not my chioce, it was either that or an accord and it wasnt even the V6). Ray i remember a while back you said you got somewhere down in the high 16s with just an iceman? have you run it since? My last question is can i take off that padding stuff that is on the inside of my hood? The black stuff that is connected to the hood on the inside of it. Is it going to effect anything? Thanks for the help |

hmm...id say a 17.4
i ran a 17.1 with a shorty header, intake, exhaust, UDP and chip.....with an exhaust leak....and the header really opened up my exhaust, and i ran a 17.1......but i think your first run will be a 17.6 and ur best will be 17. 4....let me know how u do |

Stock 5 speeds run better then 17 and I have betten ones with exhausts and intakes by at least a car length and they were decent drivers.

I ran 16.7x on a really cool "not humid" night, as I recally with the Iceman kit and Magnaflow catback as the only mods, and yes it's an automatic. 16.9x - 17+ is more typical when it's hotter out or the air is super thick...
Lower your front tires to 20-21 lbs, jack the rears up to 40lbs(reduces drag). Reduce as much weight at possible, including how much gas you have in the tank when you get to the track, I always tried to run with less than a 1/4 of gas, and would sometimes bring a 3 gallon can of gas with me, just in case I run low... As for the hood liner, I removed mine, never had a problem. Stock header however... I removed it mainly because it traps to much dirt/dust. Hope that helps.

damn ray, idk what the hell im doing wrong, lol.....but actually now that i recall.....i only had a coen filter on my stock intake, and just a muffler, not a catback....but i did have the Chip and pullies though when i went, and the shorty header(which was leaking)......i went on the first day ETOWN opened up...it was a nice day out....o well, i will be going one of these nights to run it again, hopefuly low 16's for my auto....but who knows.....also, what track do u go to ray?, thanx

I used to go to the New England Dragway in NH, but any more. No I don't get to the track at all. There's one about an hour from here, but it sucks... It's in a valley and they humidity just kills.
How are you launching and shifting your automatic ?

Thanks Ray.
I launch mine from 2100 RPMS. I hold the brake really hard and then just drop it, that seems to be the quickest i can get. As for shifting I rev it out to a little of 6 grand, let off the gas and let it shift and go at it again. What do you launch at and shift at?

That's a good launch. I shift it myself, probably around 6200-6500, hard to hit it the same place everytime. It's been a while, so those numbers are my best guess trying to remember... :)
