From Kugel:
V81030 - ZX3 8.8 FORD REAR END INSTALLATION KIT – INCLUDES: UPPER & LOWER 4 BARS WITH BOLT ON FRAME BRACKETS, BOLT IN UPPER COILOVER SHOCK CROSSMEMBER AND LOWER SHOCK BRACKETS, ALL HARDWARE INCLUDED, (DOES NOT INCLUDE REAR AXLE) Now, I have found that alot of guys are using the 99+ cobra rear IRS and a little work with a hammer, grinder, and drill.....and it fits..... http://www.mouthbreather.net/IRSSWAP.HTML the only thing is that its probably useless because the kugel kit is modified bracketry and such to hold just the axle, not the entire setup from a fox mustang. but the good news is that a cobra rear IRS can probably be modded just as easily as Kugel made the 8.8 bolt-in kit. the escape rear IRS is still probably less work though. EDIT: this website in the UK lists a cobra IRS option, and says that they partner with Kugel..... http://www.gladcliff.com/svtfocus.html Edit2: here is what Kugel says has to be done to the front subframe for anything involving rear wheel drive/awd "The original suspension crossmember had to be modified by cutting it in half, removing the center portion and installing a rectangular tube between the two halves." Edit3(LOL): i cant seem to email Kugel because its a direct link to microsoft outlook......if someone can email them and ask if they offer an IRS for the focus v8 conversion that would be AWESOME

SO: the transmission and the front transfer case are INDEED separate.....now.....to find a cougar or countour v6 trans for comparison to see if you could mount the transfer case to a cougar/contour trans (easier to find and way cheaper) EDIT: contour trans: ![]() they are different.........guess you do need the trans....DAMNIT!

here is a schematic of the passenger side axonometric view of the transfer case......
![]() it would be nice to know if the bellhousings were swapable, maybe then you could use a bellhousing from the jag mounted to a cougar/contour trans and still be able to do it.

^ it did, it was auto.....but they operate the same components so the parts of it that mount the transfer case and axles should be the same

LETS TURN DIRT!!!!

DAMNIT!!!
After see the transfer case you've got me thinking..... I need to get my hands on a transfer case. I'm wondering if I can adapt the transfer case to my Getrag.... that sure would make shit simple. It may not be that hard... custom bracket, short axle to go from Getrag to transfer case then a custom axle from case to passengers wheel.

The MS6 drivetrain has no relation to a zetec based car. the bellhousings will not work, and the MS6 is electronically controlled unless you manually weld/lock the diffs somehow.

The electronics cant be that complicated. I am sure it reads engine speed.. when it comes to the engine. Other than that I think it relies on yaw sensors and sensors in the trans for wheelspin. I think it may not be the easiest route...since you would need to do an engine swap. But I think it will still be the best performing set up of the bunch... in turns anyway. |
