yeah, it's not very cost-effective to try to piece together the necessary componants, but you can get a totalled jaguar x-type for around $1500 invested from iaai auction online, you'll have to be friends with someone with a dealer license and membership though....(I am, so I've been watching auctions while I'm putting some money aside)

I'm hoping to aquire an x-type late summer/fall so I can tackle the AWD project over next winter possibly, if I'm not bored with the RS conversion by then.

I figure with modification it could... right? But why would you even need 500 AWHP?


Honestly, it's true that you could just buy a car that comes AWD. But what's the fun in that? I'd rather have a car that nobody else has. It's one of the reasons I bought a SVT in the first place.

I'd love to have a 400 HP AWD Focus that I could embarrass Evo's and STi's with.

500 AWHP is for fun!

As far as the cars built with AWD is you have no hassle in spending months if not years getting everything working correctly and by the time you get done with it you are bored with the project and want to move on. The SVT and Focus overall is a good car but it is just a commuter car. I'd rather dump 25k-40k in a one of a kind newer/older collector car that needs some work.

You can embarrass evo's and sti's without awd just start with a better platform or build the shit out of your focus.

I don't see why not. with custom axles and cryo-treated diff internals....it's still using an MTX75 trans box, just with a PTO.....so it should handle around the same punishment the MTX75's have proven to stand up to.

I also don't see how useful 500+AWHP would be in a focus....given it's weight and wheelbase, 350awhp will be more than enough to really boogie in one of these. STi's and EVO's still arent really breaking 350hp at the crank from the factory.....a 350awhp focus would walk all over them. More power that that and you'll just be fighting wheelspin and other BS.

That's true. I might as well just build the shit out of it. I'm assuming limited slip is absolutely necessary?
