Thanks for the bump! It's been decided. Deb will get an AWD swap from a jaguar x-type. The transfer case housing is the weak point in the system but im gonna design a reinforcement cage/bracket that should keep it together. Swap won't happen for a year or more. And i'll buya full donor car. But it will happen

I agree, I'm glad to hear that as well!! It's been years since I've read this thread and I'm sure it's in here somewhere but I don't know why someone wouldn't use the Ford Escape AWD system. They came through with a 2.3, MTX75 based AWD system at one point. I'm sure it would hold up to an FSWerks stage 2 turbo with the GT2860RS turbo (slower spool, less stress on the internals).

because the escape awd is primarily fwd and send like 15% power to the rear wheels only when slipping is detected and the jag is more like a 60/40 split

Ahh, Wouldn't that be a cheaper and more native alternative? They carry the same center subframe in the rear. Wouldn't 15% in the rear help with launch though? If you could put slicks/drag radials up front and keep some sticky street tires on the back you wouldn't really have traction problems, right?

I agree that the Jaguar is by far a better choice at 60/40 split then the Escapes 85/15.

Jag uses the same 2.5L V6 that I have in deb.
jag is true AWD with a front, center, and rear diff.
jag has a 40/60 F/R tq split.
jag uses a viscous coupling center diff for better tq control.

Im gonna do it right or not do it at all. I'll take my time, buy a jag donor, and do as much work as possible before putting deb under the knife. I'll document it all for you guys and it'll get it's own thread. I'm gonna do it the way I should've done the V6 swap.

I'm glad this thread is here to give me a start. Thanks to the jag forums I know the x types week point and can work around it.

The escape uses a electronically controlled system. So you have to swap over the wheel speed sensors, computer, and everything. All that work for a little bit of rear tq and only when the front slips? Not worth it imo.

I want real awd so that I can turbo the v6 and start destroying everyone on the road stealth style. :)
