2005 ZX3 ticking

Hello everyone,

I just bought a 2005 Ford Focus ZX3. There is a ticking noise coming from the engine. I live in Northern Minnesota so it is still pretty cold outside. I'm not sure what oil is in it but i plan on switching to Amsoil soon. The cap says 0w20 i think so that should be what is in there.

There is about 43k miles on it so i wouldn't expect it to be ticking yet. Amsoil has two different recommended oils.

The first is a 0w20.

They also have a better oil but it is a 0w30.

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/sso.aspx

Which would be better to use for this engine? It is the 2.0 liter.

Thank you,

Chris

Use the 0 20.

The ticking may be the injectors, they are sort of loud. Or it could be the valve train, we have a mechanical setup and it also it notorious for being loud.
Best way I can think of to rule out the valve train is to use a mechanics stethoscope and listed on the valve cover for the noise. If it's not there it's probably the injectors.

I listened to it up close this morning. I think it may actually be the injectors. I have never heard injectors that noisy before though. I will get a stethoscope and check it out when i do a tune up next week.

Thank you for the reply.
