question about a focus for sale

I found a 2000 se 4dr for sale this week. thats how i got the name.

it is red, 39k miles, no tilt, no cruise, no abs, and no power windows. it has the 2.0 mazda motor, which i believe you all refer to as the spi motor.

It is on a saturn lot where i have bought my last 3 cars. I trust them there and they know not to play games with me.

this vehicle will be used by both me and my wife as the runner car. we have a 2004 saturn vue with the honda motor and fully loaded.

the price on the focus is 5400 bucks. does this sound like a good deal? I know most like the zetec but please overlook that issue as it will not be modded for speed.

why does http://www.carsurvey.org/review_36754.html show that this car is just a pain to own. this is not to strike down anyone. we all have our own taste, but i need a good car to commute in.

it isn't a mazda motor in it!! the spi is a very good reliable engine. It is based on the escort CHV engine. It sounds like a very good price for the car. The issues with the car should have been taken care of and should be as reliable as a newer one. If you buy the focus.. I will ALMOST forgive you for buying a saturn.

2000's had a lot of recalls. If it hasn't had them done, you could run into some trouble with it.

I don't know if it was my post you read, but I have a 2001 SE Wagon with a chronic water leak. Ford is buying it back and we may get an '04 SVT 5-door. Tee hee hee.

I don't know if the water problem is widespread or isolated to a few lemons.
